It truly is an exciting time to be a part of the design community in Belfast. It has recently been announced that graphic designer extraordinaire, Nicholas Felton, is to be gracing the Conor Lecture Theatre with his presence on the 02/04/2009 at 6.30pm. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here.
Award winning, New York-based graphic designer Nicholas Felton has gained an enviable reputation for creating sophisticated and innovative information graphics. In particular, for his series of introspective annual reports in which he displays data compiled from his everyday activities throughout the year using ingenius charts, diagrams and maps. These are self-published under his personal project alias Feltron.

On top of the Felt(r)on talk, there’s also the upcoming BarCamp Belfast to be looking forward to! At the time of writing there are now 35 speakers and 252 attendees making their way to the Art College at the end of April. If you’re interested in design, technology, entrepreneurship or anything even loosely related make sure to put your name on the list.
Add all this together and take into account the Build conference that will be taking place later in 2009 and I think it would be fair to suggest that Belfast is in the process of making a name for itself internationally as a regional epicentre for design and a city that industry leaders want to visit. Long may it continue.
